I am a field veterinarian based in Rwanda (with frequent travel to DRC and Virunga) with the Mountain Gorilla Veterinary Project. I work with Jan Ramer, Jacques, Jean-Paul and Eddy, among others.
I am relatively new to the team, having arrived in December 2007. Prior to moving to Rwanda I worked in Mahale National Park in Tanzania as a veterinarian for chimpanzees with the Jane Goodall Institute and as a Tourism Manager at the site. I have also worked in Durban, South Africa at a wildlife rehabilitation center where I was the chief veterinarian and co-manager.
At Kinigi, Rwanda, caring for the gorilla orphans
Living in Africa - with my husband Doug and my daughter, Kasia - is a far cry from my native Poland, but I am passionate about my work and protecting wildlife.
